Thinking of getting a nipple piercing, but aren’t sure? Today, I’ll be telling you everything you need to know about this piercing to hopefully help you make your final decisions. See if you actually want it or if, you know, you’re gonna run.
How Long Do Nipple Piercings Take To Heal?
First things first, the healing time. Healing time typically takes a full year to heal, just to make sure your body is good, and if you had any bumps down the road with it, you are good. It will typically take a full year.
That being said, one nipple may heal better than the other, just how our bodies work. It’s okay if one’s doing good and the other one’s losing. Just have a little faith, and it’ll get there, and it’ll be fine.
Is It Common To Have Milky Discharge After Nipple Piercing?
The second thing is, during this phase, you will notice some milky discharge, either milky gooey, it may look bloody and milky, who knows? You might have like a little mixed cocktail going on. It’s okay, you’re gonna be fine. Don’t freak out, that is completely normal. It’s part of the healing process.
The main thing that you need to do is clean it. You don’t want to pick at it, any scabbing crust, any of that may form, even if it’s on the ball, do not pick at it.
How Many Times A Day To Clean Nipple Piercing?
Speaking of cleaning, you really need to make sure, for the third thing, that you are cleaning it two to three times daily.
I would say two times daily, but three times if you work out, if you have like an extra activity that you do on the side, like if you go running, you go hiking, and grow that boob sweat, clean it. I’m pretty sure your chest is going to be sweaty, clean it, you know, it’s gonna be gross, just clean it.
How To Moisturize Dry Nipple Piercing?
Another thing is, too, your nipple may dry out just because it is saline that you are using. With that being said, just keep it moisturized, just not on the piercing itself, but around it.
What Gauge Are Nipple Piercings?
The fourth thing is, we pierce you with a 14-gauge, which you should be pierced with. What we do is obviously, we check and we want to make sure you have the right size barbell and it’s not going to be uncomfortable.
You have room for swelling, you have all that room for like that gunk buildup, all that nasty stuff that’s bound to happen. We make sure that you’re good and you’re set with the right size.
So, we originally pierce with the 5/8 for every female that walks in, and for males, it’s typically either a 5/8 or a 9/16, just because males do tend to have a smaller nipples compared to a female.
But in some cases, if their nipple is smaller, we will start off with the 9/16, just depending on the size and everything.
Can You Use A Curved Barbell For Nipple Piercing?
And we also pierce you with the straight barbell. We don’t do the curved barbell. Curved barbells usually cause discomfort. Also, don’t get pierced with a curved barbell. If somebody tries to pierce you with a curved barbell, just know that’s a red flag, and you should, literally, run and get up and go.
How To Get Rid Of A Nipple Piercing Bump?
Lastly, one thing you really want to avoid is bumping it. If you bump it, if you hug someone, they squeeze you tight, babe, it is gonna swell like a mofo. So do not do that.
Be careful who you’re hugging, be careful what you’re doing, and be careful not to hit your boob. Don’t wear any lace bras because if it does get caught on your bra and you snag it, it will hurt. I’ve been there, done that, don’t wish it for anybody.
Another thing is when you’re taking a shower, you need to be very careful if you use a loofah just because it is netted and you don’t want to catch it on there, yank it. It’s going to cause a whole ordeal. You’re not gonna like it.
Make sure you avoid, I’m sorry, but I have to say it, make sure you avoid any sexual activity around the nipple for the first month, just because your nipp.
Tip For Females With Larger Breasts
One tip I would like to share, especially for females with larger breasts, is to wear a sports bra for at least two to three days after the piercing. This will provide extra support and prevent discomfort. You’ll appreciate the added stability and be able to move around more comfortably.
Getting a nipple piercing is a decision that requires careful consideration. One must be aware of the risks involved, including the potential for infections. It’s crucial to take the necessary precautions to avoid complications.
